New Mickler Memorial Reef Is in the Water
The Organization for Artificial Reefs reports on the Bill Mickler Memorial Reef and additions to the Carl Enis site off Dog Island.

The Organization for Artificial Reefs, Coastal Conservation Association, Florida wildlife officials and Walter Marine deployed the Bill Mickler Memorial Reef south of Dog Island in August 2025. The work also expanded the nearby Carl Enis Memorial Reef.

Walter Marine placed 27 modified concrete and limestone tetrahedrons weighing a combined 129 tons. The largest modules stand 15 feet tall and weigh about 15 tons each. Divers from OAR and the state monitored the placement and completed post-deployment cleanup.
