Fall Fishing Gets Bigger and Better in Franklin County
Florida's Forgotten Coast reports on 65 Walter Marine reef modules deployed across three Franklin County sites.

Walter Marine deployed 65 concrete pyramid modules off St. George Island and Dog Island in August 2025. The work expanded the Buddy Ward and Carl Enis sites and created the new Mickler Memorial Reef.

The three-year project brought together Franklin County, the Apalachicola Artificial Reef Association and the Organization for Artificial Reefs. Several individual memorial units were included among the larger public reef deployment, adding fishing habitat and permanent tributes at sea.
