Work Boats Expand Orange Beach's Snorkeling Reef System
OBA reports on Walter Marine's addition of 327 modules to three public snorkeling reef zones along Alabama's beaches.

Walter Marine used the Maranatha, a barge and the jack-up boat Maggie to add 327 structures across three snorkeling reef zones near Orange Beach and Gulf State Park. The work expanded a system that began with 166 modules in 2018.

The concrete and limestone units were installed on pilings in shallow water, with layouts that included the shape of Alabama and a dolphin. State and local organizers designed the reefs to provide accessible marine habitat and snorkeling opportunities close to shore.
