WJHG reports on Bay County's approval of 30 Walter Marine Super Reefs for deployment in deep Gulf waters.

Bay County commissioners approved 30 Super Reefs for construction by Walter Marine. The large concrete structures were planned for deployment in about 135 feet of water, adding high-relief habitat to a local network of hundreds of artificial reefs.

The open pyramid design includes internal layers that increase surface area and create spaces for marine growth and fish. County officials described the project as continued investment in habitat that supports local fishing and diving activity.
