The Okaloosa Coastal Resource Team deployed 46 prefabricated reef modules at four sites southeast of Destin's East Pass. Walter Marine built the concrete and limestone structures and used the Maranatha II to place them in water ranging from 110 to 141 feet deep.
The project included one 15-foot module and 45 eight-foot modules. Funding came from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and matching county tourism dollars. County officials designed the sites to add marine habitat and spread fishing and diving activity across more locations.
